Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIf Gina Carano wants to fight in Mixed Martial Arts again after her 17-second loss to Ronda Rousey, a boxing legend is ready to oblige.
MMA legend Gina Carano’s return to the sport after 17 years away ended in just 17 seconds against UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey last month at MVP MMA 1. After weeks of anticipation for the all-legends clash, Rousey made quick work of Carano with another of her patented armbar submissions.
After a miraculous physical transformation leading up to the Rousey fight, Carano didn’t rule out potentially fighting at least one more time in MMA against another star opponent. Former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm is one potential option, after Holm’s controversial boxing loss to Stephanie Han last weekend.
But Carano, 44, has another potential opponent ready and willing to make her own MMA return after a long hiatus. Like Holm, it’s another women’s boxing legend.
Gina Carano called out by Amanda Serrano for potential MVP MMA clash
In a recent interview with TMZ, multi-division boxing champion Amanda Serrano called out Carano for an upcoming clash in MVP MMA.
“I told [Jake Paul], listen, put me in coach, I’m ready to go in!” Serrano said of fighting Carano.
“It was a great show, live on Netflix, first time MVP’s done an MMA card, and it turned out beautiful. And if they decide to do it again, maybe before I’m completely done with fighting in general, I would love to go get in that cage.”
“Listen, just hear the sound of it. ‘Serrano vs. Carano. Serrano, Carano!” Serrano continued on Carano. “It would be an honor to go in there with such a great fighter. She’s a striker as well. She comes from a kickboxing background. So you never know. You never know.” (h/t Yahoo! Sports)
Serrano, 37, hasn’t fought in MMA since submitting Valentina Garcia at iKON FF 7 in June 2021. The longtime unified featherweight boxing champion is 2-0-1 in her MMA career and would give Carano a striking-friendly matchup in the cage.
As of this writing, Carano hasn’t responded to Serrano’s callout. As MVP looks to continue its momentum in MMA, Carano vs. Serrano could be on the docket later this year.
