Gilbert Arenas is making it clear he has no plans to return to jail after his recent arrest. Instead, he’s ready to “sing like a canary” and protect himself at all costs.
The former NBA star, accused of running an illegal gambling operation, spoke candidly during a live stream Thursday night – and he’s not worried about the charges.
“Good luck in court,” Arenas said. “I’m pretty sure I ain’t gonna be there when it’s starting to go, cause, yeah, I’m snitching.”
After posting $50K bail Wednesday, Gil revealed authorities took his passport but joked he’s got a backup plan: “You gotta have two [passports]. You think I’m dumb?”
In an interesting twist, Arenas said he knew one of the cops who arrested him – they played basketball together as kids.
“This is the only time you actually stopped me, brother,” he said. “Best defense you ever had.”
His key takeaway from the ordeal? “Don’t get arrested if you gotta use the restroom, man.”
The 3-time All-Star pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and operating an illegal gambling business, plus making false statements. He’s due back in court in late September.
