The San Francisco Giants are in a mess of their own making.

General manager Zack Minasian and president of baseball operations Buster Posey have taken some significant swings in an attempt to pull the Giants out of mediocrity. Posey was a key part in third baseman Matt Chapman signing a long-term extension, while the current braintrust signed shortstop Willy Adames and acquired first baseman Rafael Devers and his long-term deal. The results have been disappointing, as the Giants entered Monday with a 16-24 record.

Those struggles have left the Giants in a difficult situation. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that the Giants "would love" to trade Adames, Chapman, Devers and outfielder Jung Hoo Lee and start over.

The question is whether or not any team would be interested in those players. That quartet is still due a combined $546.9 million over the remainder of their contracts, a hefty sum considering their decline in production.

The Giants do not have many other potential options for the trade block. Rental players such as infielder Luis Arraez and pitchers Tyler Mahle and Robbie Ray could have some value, although their contracts could limit the Giants return. Unless the Giants are willing to part ways with pitcher Logan Webb as part of a deal to rid themselves of one of those contracts, the Giants may be stuck attempting to revamp the roster around several albatross contracts.
