UFC legend Georges St-Pierre has discussed who he considers to be some of the greatest to ever compete in the sport of MMA.

When you talk about the best fighters to ever compete in mixed martial arts, Georges St-Pierre is a name that many will mention. He is a two-weight UFC world champion, and he was able to avenge both of the defeats he suffered as a professional fighter.

Alas, St-Pierre is a humble man, and he is more interested in recognizing some of the other stars that came both before and after him in the sport.

In a recent interview, St-Pierre had the following to say about the GOAT debate.

“I will say Royce Gracie because he is the reason why I started Martial Arts and he is the first one to inspire me,” St-Pierre explained. “I will put yourself Demetrious Johnson because I believe if everyone weighed the same weight you would be the best fighter.

“I will put Jon Jones because if we make a competition and we need someone to put in the Coliseum, he would be probably the best fighter. Prime Jon Jones, there’s a few candidates for that you could say Fedor Emelianenko or Tom Aspinall but I think Jon Jones according to his pedigree is the one.

“I would also put Anderson Silva. He was like ‘The Matrix’… And if I could put another one I would say Conor McGregor because he brought the sport to a different level in terms of notoriety. He is bigger than the sport.

“There is the Martial Arts circle, the ‘sports’ circle and then something that can encompass that which is the ‘entertainment circle’. And he broke through the entertainment circle, which not a lot of athletes have done in Mixed Martial Arts.”
