The Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians faced off in a critical ALCS Game 6 on Monday.

The Rays' pitching has helped carry the team deep into the postseason, as Drew Rasmussen has maintained a dominant 1.29 ERA. But Freddy Peralta put together another solid gem that helped lead them to their third World Series appearance in franchise history, while also winning the AL Pennant.

Coming into Game 6, Peralta owned a sparkling 0.79 ERA this postseason, and since joining the Rays and making adjustments, he's been a massive threat. Some but not all of his adjustments have included widening his stance and speeding up his delivery.

But now, across his last 10 appearances, he's posted a 0.89 ERA with only five earned runs allowed, which is impressive considering how his 2026 campaign started with the New York Mets.

''Fastball Freddy'' was throwing absolute gas on Monday night, as he generated a 50% whiff rate with his four-seamer after three scoreless innings. Going into the third inning, Peralta also successfully retired seven batters in a row after giving up a single to Steven Kwan in the first inning. His fastball also hit 99 mph, and he got rookie sensation Chase DeLauter to swing and miss to end the high-stakes inning after he gave up a single and a walk.

Freddy Peralta's transformation has come alive in the postseason

Peralta's stellar outing was paired with the Rays striking first with a two-strike RBI double from Richie Palacios in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the third from Jonny DeLuca, adding to their lead (3-0).

After Peralta's solid three scoreless innings, he raised his outing by pitching efficiently with just 72 pitches thrown after five scoreless frames. His scoreless streak ended in the sixth as he gave up a single to Nathaniel Lowe, who provided the Guardians with their first run of the game.

Tropicana Field became more electric in the seventh with a two-run blast off the foul pole from Junior Caminero to extend the Rays' lead to 5-1. While the Guardians threatened in the eighth to make it 5-3, Yandy Diaz immediately erased their momentum with a two-run shot to provide much-needed insurance (7-3).

The Rays couldn't have asked for a better performance from Peralta as he went 5 and 1/3 innings giving up five hits, one earned run, three walks, with three strikeouts and 14 whiffs. The remarkable transformation that he has made as a trade deadline acquisition will without a doubt raise his value.

Peralta's dominant performance also had him surpass Bartolo Colón and climb into fifth place among Dominican-born pitchers with the most postseason strikeouts (53), according to reporter Francys Romero.

With the Guardians officially eliminated, what is going to make a World Series berth between the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay that much more thrilling is that Peralta will face his former team, which should certainly get fans fired up.
