Frank Warren has weighed in on the Anthony Joshua ‘punch resistance’ discussion as the Brit seemingly inches closer towards a long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury.

The pair are expected to collide later this year, albeit with a specific date and location having not yet become clear.

Perhaps more obvious, however, is the deterioration of both former two-time heavyweight champions, who seemed a shadow of their former selves as they came through respective warm-up fights last weekend.

Joshua, in particular, appeared in a state of deep decline against Kristian Prenga, who floored him with a right uppercut in the first 20 seconds of their contest.

The 36-year-old was then put down a second time in the opening round, before climbing back to his feet and stopping the previously little-known Albanian in the following three minutes.

Conversely, Fury seemed to encounter minimal danger, but nonetheless looked his age, as he trundled through seven rounds against the 46-year-old Mariusz Wach.

But still, many are convinced that the 37-year-old has the beating of Joshua, whose last world-level contest resulted in a fifth-round stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois in 2024.

Speaking with DAZN, Fury promoter Warren insisted that a similar outcome is likely to materialise in the not too distant future.

“I think Tyson’s a big favourite – I’ve said that all along. Styles make fights and I think Tyson will stop AJ. He will do what Daniel Dubois did.

“[Joshua] looks incredible. [Team Usyk have] got him doing a different physical regime, but one thing you can’t do in boxing is put muscles on your chin.”

While Joshua has, indeed, been training with the team of Oleksandr Usyk, it remains to be seen whether this will have much of an impact on the potential Fury fight.
