Floyd Mayweather has revealed who he deems to be the top five fighters of all time, with only one heavyweight making the list.

Mayweather is seen as one of the modern greats by many boxing fans, having retired with a perfect 50-0 record whilst claiming wins over fighters such as Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez.

In a resurfaced clip, it is perhaps typical of Mayweather that he included himself in the top five fighters of all time, with three other legendary names also making the list.

“We gotta go Pernell Whitaker…I’m gonna go Roberto Duran…Aaron Pryor.”

Mayweather then chose a heavyweight icon, but it may come as a surprise that it wasn’t Muhammad Ali, instead siding with a man who beat Ali towards the end of his career.

“If we gonna go heavyweights I gotta go Larry Holmes, because Larry Holmes beat everybody in his era. When Larry Holmes got beat by Mike Tyson, he got beat by a young, hungry champion — and he came out of retirement and got beat by Tyson.”

Holmes was world heavyweight champion from 1978 to 1985, making an incredible 20 successful title defences during that time.

He claimed a win over an ageing Ali in 1980, whilst also securing victories over the likes of Earnie Shavers, Leon Spinks and Ken Norton.

Holmes is widely regarded as having one of the best jabs in the history of boxing, and it is clear to see why Mayweather views ‘The Easton Assassin’ as one of the top five fighters of all time.
