Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayOk so after just shy of 200 string jobs I've had my first racquet breakage. On pulling the last cross the racquet cracked dramatically at the shared hole at the top (brown underpants moment). Luckily it was one of my own fairly cheap racquets but just after some forum support/ridicule.
It was only 26lb tension so should have been well within the 30lb max tension rating. I'm going to assume a weakness or existing crack in the frame that I didn't notice, the racquet is very well used and lots of battle damage from clashes.
So apart from more thorough inspecting for damage before stringing is there anything else? Assuming the racquets are weakest at the top do people double pull the last 2 crosses or reduce tensions towards the top?
Would like to hear of other breakage stories, can't just be me!

If it ain't broke then why fix it? Say 175+ rackets strung with no problems, I might think you overlooked damage, a beaten up old racket, sometimes the best stringers overlook something and make a mistake. If you do like 3 in a row like a stringer, I heard did at the 2005 World Championships, stringing top down 34 pounds for a Korean player, then changed to bottom up and had no problem, then probably need to make a change on something. Might be a good idea to get a digital calibrator, I use a digital fishing scale to check my tension every once and a while.
