Wardley deserves credit for his self-belief, yet jumping straight back into the ring with Dubois carries genuine danger. Taking that kind of sustained beating in the first fight leaves a lasting mark, raising real concerns over whether extended rest was necessary before subjecting his body to another grueling camp.

Warren revealed Wardley’s team exercised the rematch clause almost immediately after the fight, leaving both camps to finalize the remaining logistics.

“They called it on, I think, within two weeks of the fight taking place,” Warren said to The Stomping Ground. “So, it’s there. I mean, it’s there. It’s just all we’ve been doing is working out the logistics and getting the date sorted out.”

The larger concern is technical rather than physical. Dubois uncovered major structural flaws in Wardley’s approach that will not disappear simply because another camp has passed. Wardley relied too heavily on power shots, rarely used his jab, and allowed Dubois to control the fight. Without a jab to keep Dubois off, he spent much of the fight reacting instead of forcing the champion to adjust.

Training camp can address those habits, but sparring is not the same as facing a live opponent under the lights. A warm-up fight would have allowed Wardley to test a more disciplined style against someone else before trying it against the heavyweight who capitalized on those lapses. Instead, his first opportunity to find out whether the adjustments work may come against Dubois himself.

If Wardley enters the rematch with the same approach, the outcome may not look much different. The gamble is not simply taking Dubois again. It is trying to recover from a punishing stoppage loss while overhauling his style without the benefit of a competitive fight to prove the changes are ready.
