West Indies concluded their rain-affected tour of Ireland with a resounding 62-run victory over the hosts in the third and final T20 International at the Bready Cricket Club. After the first two matches were abandoned due to adverse weather, this sole completed game saw the West Indies assert their dominance, with a commanding batting display setting up a comfortable win.

West Indies’ explosive batting sets formidable target

Having been invited to bat first by Ireland, the West Indies posted a formidable total of 256/5 in their 20 overs, a testament to their explosive batting lineup. The innings was spearheaded by an exceptional performance from opener Evin Lewis, who blazed his way to 91 runs off just 44 deliveries, featuring 7 fours and 8 colossal sixes. He was well-supported by Shai Hope, who contributed a quickfire 51 off 27 balls. Towards the latter part of the innings, Keacy Carty (49 off 22) and Romario Shepherd (19 off 6) provided crucial impetus, ensuring a challenging target for the Irish side. For Ireland, Matthew Humphreys was the standout bowler, picking up 2 wickets for an economical 16 runs from his four overs. Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy and Ben White each claimed a wicket, but the Irish bowlers largely struggled to contain the West Indies’ onslaught, particularly Liam McCarthy, who conceded 81 runs from his four overs.

Ireland’s chase falters against disciplined West Indies bowling

Chasing a daunting target of 257, Ireland’s batsmen fought hard but ultimately fell short, finishing on 194/7 in their 20 overs. Ross Adair led the scoring for Ireland with a well-made 48 off 36 balls, while Harry Tector added 38 off 25 deliveries. Mark Adair provided some late fireworks with a quick 31 off 14 balls, including four sixes, but the required run rate proved too steep.
