To their credit, Everton have recovered well from their deadline-day disappointment, which saw Folarin Balogun exit the building feeling far too disrespected to put pen to paper.

The Toffees were left to rely on Thierno Barry and he's since taken full advantage - scoring five goals in all competitions. David Moyes, meanwhile, is yet to see his side lose in the Premier League after five games. He couldn't have asked for much better after a tough summer transfer window.

If The Friedkin Group were losing faith in their veteran manager, then recent results should have restored that faith to the point that January investment could be pending.

Those at Hill Dickinson are likely to be back in the market for a striker in an attempt to pick up where they left off. That may not mean another attempt to sign Balogun though. That bridge may be burnt.

Truth be told, Everton may not want to go near Balogun themselves. The American has failed to hit the ground running back at AS Monaco so far this season and has made just one appearance.

The last thing Everton need is an underperforming striker if they are to splash the cash and that's why their scouts have been focused on a Bundesliga star instead.

Everton dispatch scouts to track Younes Ebnoutalib

On the hunt for a striker to finally end their search, Everton have dispatched scouts to make checks on Younes Ebnoutalib, who has made an excellent start to the campaign with Entracht Frankfurt.

The 6'3 German was recently called up to the German national team for the first time by new manager Jurgen Klopp, who instantly praised the forward.

“I saw his first game of the season for Eintracht and said to myself, ‘What a player! Where did they find him?’ There was no discussion among the coaching staff. We all immediately agreed: ‘Yes, we have to include him.’”

Klopp also went on to call the forward "wonderful", but it's no real surprise that such high praise has arrived. After all, Ebnoutalib has scored five goals in five games in Germany so far this season and is still just 23 years old.

Whilst Balogun continues to make a stuttered start, Everton have turned their focus towards a clinical forward who could quickly take Moyes' side to European level from January onwards.

Given that Barry has also scored five goals so far this season too, there's a potential strike-partnership on the cards on Merseyside.
