“Given the caliber that he’s at, unified world champion, he’s only lost to Terence Crawford. He feels like he is at that very top. So it doesn’t really matter who they put in front of him. That’s how he feels. I’m here to prove that wrong,” said Tszyu to DAZN Boxing.

When Spence was asked why he accepted such a difficult fight instead of easing back into competition after his lengthy layoff, his answer was brief.

“That’s what I do.”

Spence also dismissed the idea that Tszyu would have any advantage because of recent activity.

“Oh yeah, for sure. He got some tuneups, get himself together, and I think for sure it’s going to be the best. He just had a fight a couple months ago, so I think he’s going to be well prepared.”

Despite the competitive remarks, Tszyu spoke respectfully about the version of Spence he expects to face.

“The best. I’m sure he’s motivated. He’s refreshed, rejuvenated, and he’s ready to go, you know, same way as I am,” said Tszyu.

The former WBO junior middleweight champion believes both men are entering the fight at their best. Saturday night will determine whether Spence still belongs among the sport’s elite or if Tszyu can back up his belief that the former champion’s confidence no longer matches reality.
