Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayPhiladelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper became the latest All-Star to throw his hat in the ring on Thursday, announcing that he would take part in Monday's Home Run Derby. Harper's participation was welcomed news to Phillies fans, who were hoping "the Showman" wouldn't deprive his hometown fans of seeing him try to win his second Home Run Derby.
However, Harper may not be the only Phillies player taking part in the Derby, as interim manager Don Mattingly seemed to let slip that his teammate Kyle Schwarber would also likely be participating.
Don Mattingly reveals that Kyle Schwarber will be in the Home Run Derby
Winning last year's Home Run Derby for the National League by defeating the American League in the first-ever "swing-off," Schwarber's participation in this year's Derby was in question due to a back issue. Despite the concern, it appears Schwarber will indeed take part.

The back issue has been a problem for Schwarber, who has only two home runs in July (29 at-bats) -- both came against his hometown team, the Reds -- after hitting eight in June. Even though the now four-time All-Star has suffered a power outage, he needs to participate in the Derby, as he leads Major League Baseball in home runs (32).
Schwarber will join a star-studded lineup for this year's Derby: Harper (20 home runs this season), Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero (27), New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice (28), Kansas City Royals outfielder/DH Jac Caglianone (14), Boston Red Sox first baseman Wilson Contreras (20) and St. Louis Cardinals right fielder Jordan Walker (22).
The last time Harper and Schwarber both took part in the Home Run Derby was 2018. Harper beat Schwarber in the finals.
