It’s safe to say the Dodgers won the MLB trade deadline.

They caught the biggest fish on the market and added Tarik Skubal to a team that more resembles an All-Star roster than an average baseball team.

With Skubal in the rotation, the Dodgers now have three of the top-20 pitchers in baseball based on WAR: Yoshinobu Yamamoto (3.1, 13th), Shohei Ohtani (3.0, 17th), and Skubal (2.9, 19th). Now a team that was already loaded and the favorite to win the World Series will be even more dangerous down the stretch.

Skubal is set to make his highly anticipated debut at Wrigley Field Tuesday night, and the Dodgers are sizable favorites to win in his first start at -198 on the moneyline.

Skubal has never pitched at Wrigley, so this will be a completely new environment for him in his first time on the mound for the Dodgers.

The Cubs have one of the best hitting lineups in the league and have been a disciplined team at the plate this season.

Their batters have the third-lowest Chase% (27.5) and second-lowest Swing% (44.8) in the league, according to StatCast. Skubal ranks among the best pitchers in baseball for both categories, which makes this a fun matchup.

Skubal has been one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball this season, but more importantly, he’s the best in the league at limiting walks. Skubal is adept at throwing first-pitch strikes, and if he gets ahead on hitters, he’ll force them out of their comfort zone.
