Are the Dodgers really not going to make a big splash at the trade deadline?

That’s what California Post baseball writers Dylan Hernández and Jack Harris are debating on the latest episode of the Dodgers Post podcast, as the deadline nears and trade speculation picks up.

While the Dodgers completed their post-All-Star-break road trip with a 6-3 record, maintaining the most wins in the majors this year, they still have questions to address before the Aug. 3 deadline.

The biggest one: How hard they should try to go and get Tarik Skubal, especially given the ongoing knee injury Shohei Ohtani is continuing to deal with.

Dylan remained skeptical that the Dodgers will feel like they need Skubal, or will be willing to part with the prospect capital to make it happen.

Jack, on the other hand, explained why he isn’t buying the team’s insistence that no big moves need to made, pointing back to how they were saying the same thing this winter before signing Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz.

Later, the two discuss Roki Sasaki’s latest encouraging start, why his they’re bullish on his recent uptick in form, and the meaning behind the pitcher’s “small face” joke this weekend.

As always, they then take audience questions, including one in which Dylan looks back on Yasiel Puig’s time with the Dodgers –– and why the team’s methods of supporting him didn’t always work.

And finally, they finish up with predictions and trivia.
