Left-handed starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski is putting up a breakout season for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 25-year-old has a 7-2 record, a 2.87 ERA, 40 strikeouts and a 1.005 WHIP.

His improved ERA ranks in the top 15% against qualified MLB starters as well as his 6.2% walk rate. His ERA has illustrated top-tier run prevention, while his walk rate is above the league starter average.

His most recent performance against the Philadelphia Phillies on May 29 demonstrated his dominance.

He went seven innings, gave up one hit, no walks, one earned run and struck out nine (career high). He got the job done with 88 pitches thrown with 16 whiffs.

What a start for Justin Wrobleski against the red-hot Phillies:

How Justin Wrobleski has made a statement this season

What made him propel against the Phillies was an increase in his fastball velocity. It peaked at 97 mph but averaged around 94.9 mph, which is a jump from his usual 93.7 mph.

Wrobleski's original role to start the season was scheduled to be a bulk relief/spot-starter. But manager Dave Roberts has kept him as a staple arm in a high-caliber rotation due to his reliable growth this season.

In the last two seasons with the Dodgers, he sported a 5.70 ERA (2024) and a 4.32 ERA (2025), showcasing his growth.

Another compelling element of his ace performance against the Phillies was his ability to rack up strikeouts. To start the season, he pitched with a particularly low strikeout rate. But against the Phillies, his swing-and-miss dominance was spot on, recording a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

But his brilliance wasn't just cooked overnight in one performance. He began his rotation stint with a commanding 5-0 record while only surrendering two earned runs across his first 32 innings, overall showcasing his unbelievable efficiency.

He also earned MLB Player of the Week during his radiant stretch of success from April 13 to 20, giving up just one run across seven innings. However, his masterful performance against the New York Mets on April 13 had him dealing eight strong scoreless innings.

Justin Wrobleski has looked like a star in the Dodgers stacked rotation to start the year.

He's continued to earn praise from Dave Roberts as he's also shown his durability by pitching into the sixth and seventh innings consistently.
