Sometimes, the simplest of plays don’t work out the way players would like to have hoped.

After a routine pop fly surfaced off the bat of Max Muncy in the second inning of Game 4 of the NLDS, Atlanta Braves shortstop Mauricio Dubón completely blundered it.

Dubón ran deep towards left field and had the ball ready to easily land into his glove until he completely dropped it, resulting in the Dodgers tying the game at 1-1.

The play happened in the second inning just after Shohei Ohtani stole second, then was able to advance to third following an ill-advised throw by Braves catcher Drake Baldwin.

After Dubón’s mistimed catch, Ohtani was able to advance his way to home and tie the game.

At first, everything was looking to go right for the Braves, after they had their share of luck happen in the first inning, when Michael Harris scored on a wild pitch in the first inning.

The shocking miss on a routine play by Dubón came a night after he got the start in left field for Game 3 of the series, when he made a sensational play near the left corner of Truist Park, sticking his glove over the fence to rob Freddie Freeman of an opposite, two-run home run.

Of course, Freeman got one back against the Braves in the following inning, but avoided Dubón by hitting one over the fence in right field.

After Dubón got settled back at shortstop, the Braves got Kiké Hernández to ground out at first to end the inning.
