Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayFormer two-division world champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade will return to the ring on July 24, ending a lengthy absence from competition.
CES Boxing announced Thursday that Andrade (32-1, 19 KOs) will headline Championship Jackpot 2026 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. An opponent for the 38-year-old has not yet been announced.
The event marks Andrade’s first fight since his stoppage loss to David Benavidez in November 2023, the lone defeat of his professional career.
“Demetrius Andrade is one of the greatest fighters ever to come out of New England and one of the most accomplished athletes Rhode Island has ever produced,” said CES Boxing Founder and President Jimmy Burchfield Sr.
“This is a special moment for CES Boxing and for boxing fans throughout the region. We’re proud to partner with Demetrius and help launch the next chapter of his remarkable career.”
A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Andrade enjoyed one of the most decorated amateur careers in American boxing before representing the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games. He later captured world titles at junior middleweight and middleweight, compiling an unbeaten record for much of his professional career.
Despite his accomplishments, Andrade often struggled to secure the marquee fights that many believed his talent deserved. Long regarded as one of boxing’s most avoided fighters, he spent years calling for bouts against many of the sport’s biggest names while holding world titles in two weight classes.
The July return represents an opportunity for Andrade to restart his career nearly three years after his loss to Benavidez. While questions remain about how much the veteran has left at this stage of his career, the former champion will have a chance to remind fans why he was considered one of the sport’s most talented fighters during his prime.
Additional bouts and Andrade’s opponent are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
