Tottenham Hotspur have arrived at the end of the season, and it's quite the final act for Roberto De Zerbi and his men, who need to secure a point at home against Everton to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

We've seen an increase in confidence and coherence since the March international break, when De Zerbi replaced Igor Tudor after that wretched short-term stint. But Spurs remain shaky and uncertain, torn apart by injuries.

Tottenham have not won at home in the league since the start of December, when Thomas Frank beat his former club, and that surely marks the crux of this mess, a team so lost they are unable to recognise the advantage that comes with playing in front of your own supporters.

The fans have made themselves heard, and they will certainly do so on Sunday, but De Zerbi needs to keep the groans to a minimum, and to do this, surely Randal Kolo Muani needs to be dropped after six straight starts.

Why De Zerbi needs to drop Kolo Muani

Kolo Muani has suffered through a disastrous loan spell at Tottenham this season, only scoring once in the Premier League and producing, frankly, honking performances in attack for three different managers.

The 27-year-old once left Eintracht Frankfurt for Paris Saint-Germain in a £76m deal, but he has failed to produce even a whiff of that level, lacking composure and direction in attack.

He has started every one of Spurs' Premier League games under De Zerbi's wing, and they have had little to show for this display of faith. It cannot go on, and he needs dropping against Everton, who are a meaty and industrious team who will pounce on any weak links.

Another Timo Werner indeed. Kolo Muani might be joining the likes of Werner and Brennan Johnson in failing to maximise their potential in north London, but there's still time for De Zerbi to drop him ahead of the conclusion of his loan, unleashing a more reliable forward at the front of the ship.

How De Zerbi can replace Kolo Muani

He's struggled with his fitness levels once again this season, but Dominic Solanke has returned to fitness at the most opportune of moments for Tottenham, green-lit ahead of this crucial final clash.

Will he start? It's as yet uncertain, but given how poor Kolo Muani has been, surely De Zerbi will consider throwing him in from the opening whistle, shifting the potent Richarlison out to the left and maybe placing Mathys Tel on the right wing.

Something needs to change. Solanke, who joined the club from Bournemouth for an initial £55m fee in 2024, has struggled to reclaim his Cherries form over the past couple of years, albeit coming up with some big moments this year, sparse though they have been.

Solanke might have been hailed as a "pressing monster" by journalist George Sessions in 2024, but he hasn't established that same playing style in north London as was showcased so well under Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth.

In fairness, this is largely because of injury storms that simply haven't abated for the England international, who has missed out on a place at the World Cup in North America because of that very fact.

It's Solanke, and not Johnson, who could emerge as Tottenham's new version of Johnson ahead of the final knocking of the campaign, someone who leaves a lot to be desired in the Spurs attack, and is not very reliable, but yet, has a sharpness in the final third that could allow the home side to come up trumps.

Tottenham cannot afford to let this last chance pass them by. This is it, the biggest game in the club's modern history. There's no question that Solanke has flattered to deceive this season, but just as Johnson scored the winning goal in the Europa League last year, now Solanke could pop up with an even more seismic strike.

De Zerbi must consider giving this Tottenham talent a starting berth on the final day of the season.
