The Sacramento Kings reportedly remain very high on Arkansas guard Darius Acuff ahead of the NBA Draft, but questions remain about whether they should use the No. 7 pick on the talented freshman if he is still available.

According to Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee, Acuff’s offensive upside is one of the main reasons he has attracted so much attention within the organization.

His scoring ability and playmaking flashes have convinced many evaluators that he has the potential to become a high-level offensive player at the next level.

However, concerns persist about the defensive side of his game. Anderson notes that Acuff’s college performances on defense were often inconsistent, raising doubts about how quickly he can adapt to NBA competition.

Despite those concerns, Anderson reports that several influential voices within the Kings’ front office are not overly worried about Acuff’s defensive shortcomings.

The belief appears to be that his offensive talent outweighs the risks, especially if the coaching staff can help him improve on the other end of the floor.

As a result, Anderson suggests that Sacramento should not hesitate to select Acuff if he remains available at No. 7 and the organization is confident in his long-term defensive development.

His offensive ceiling may simply be too high for the Kings to pass up.
