Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayUFC boss Dana White has revealed how he scored Sean Strickland’s big victory over Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328.
Last night at UFC 328, we saw one of the biggest upsets in the recent history of UFC title fights. Sean Strickland was able to overcome the odds and beat Khamzat Chimaev, who was previously unbeaten, to become the new UFC middleweight champion – marking the second time he has held the belt.
Of course, it was a pretty tight affair, with two judges scoring it 48-47 Strickland and the other scoring it 48-47 Chimaev to make it a split decision. The overwhelming feeling from pundits and fighters, though, is that either result would have been warranted given how the fight played out.
In his post-fight press conference appearance, White had the following to say about Strickland’s triumph.
White’s view on Strickland’s win over Chimaev
“I had it 2-2 going into the last round,” White told reporters at the UFC 328 post-fight press conference. “I thought Strickland won the last round.”
“What was interesting is the first two times I saw (Chimaev) fight on Fight Island, he used to talk about his standup and his team all the time,” White said. “I’ve been saying, we haven’t seen him stand up toe-to-toe with somebody for a while. I think he had a rough weight cut.”
“He (Strickland) looks great. He’s got an awkward style,” White said. “He’s tough to fight and another durable, tough guy that has no quit in him.”
