It’s safe to say that Cris Cyborg wants to do everything she can to help former rival Gina Carano defeat Ronda Rousey in their upcoming fight.

We’re just days away from UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey’s return to the cage after a 10-year hiatus against Gina Carano in a Most Valuable Promotions headliner. Rousey hasn’t fought since suffering back-to-back losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes in the UFC, and seemed destined to never appear in Mixed Martial Arts again.

Fast forward to 2026, and Rousey seems rejuvenated and motivated for her showdown with the fellow women’s MMA pioneer Carano. The 44-year-old Carano hasn’t competed since a TKO loss to Cris Cyborg in August 2009.

Rousey will enter her highly anticipated comeback fight as a significant favorite in many fans, pundits, and fellow fighters’ eyes. Before her two losses, Rousey was at the top of MMA and appeared destined to retire undefeated.

Cyborg, Carano’s last opponent and a frequent Rousey critic, believes she knows the recipe for Carano to pull off the upset on Saturday.

Cris Cyborg lays out strategy for Gina Carano ahead of Ronda Rousey fight

In a recent post to X, Cyborg shared a potential gameplan to victory for Carano to defeat Rousey.

“People don’t realize [Ronda Rousey] is southpaw but she stands orthodox because of the Judo and putting your strong hand in front,” Cyborg said of Rousey vs. Carano.

“Normally fighters circle outside the lead hand… to avoid a fighter’s power hand. With Ronda that lead hand is her power hand…and she used that lead hand to secure head and/or body control.

“[Gina] should walk to Ronda’s back leg,” Cyborg continued. “Circling into the rear hand will make it harder for Ronda to close the distance.”

Since losing to Cyborg, Carano has long hinted that a fight with Rousey would be the only bout she’d consider putting on the gloves for. Now, they’re days away from making the dream fight come to fruition, and Cyborg will keep a keen eye on the action.
