Frank Lampard will be aiming to prove himself as a Premier League-calibre manager next season as his wide-eyed Coventry City side tries to acclimatise to the harsh waters of the top-flight.

Indeed, in the past, Lampard hasn't had the most glowing reputation in the top-flight, with only 38 wins collected across 104 games in the punishing division, when managing Chelsea and Everton respectively.

Yet, even his most vocal doubters will be handing the 47-year-old some praise, now, as he guided the Sky Blues to the Championship title in some style, securing 46 wins as his Coventry team bagged a stunning 97 goals along the way.

He will need to be backed in the transfer market to ensure the Sky Blues don't just fall straight back to the EFL, with Ipswich Town also hungry to get some transfers in the door, no doubt, having been promoted automatically alongside Lampard and Co.

Coventry line up move to sign Liverpool midfielder

Already, the rumour mill has churned out some exciting names when it comes to who Coventry and Ipswich could target in the Premier League.

The recently crowned champions have been tipped to make moves for the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum and Abdul Fatawu, as both the ex-Liverpool midfielder and the relegated Leicester City winger plot returns to the English top-flight.

Both Coventry and Ipswich, based on their newly promoted status alone, seem to be tipped for the same pool of players, with Tottenham Hotspur youngster Will Lankshear reportedly on both their radars, alongside AZ Alkmaar marksman Troy Parrott.

Lampard's men have even been noted as being keen on the services of Harvey Elliott this summer, with the amount needed to swoop in for the two-time Premier League winner around the £25m mark, as revealed by Football Insider earlier this week.

Harvey Elliott for Aston Villa

This has piqued Leeds United's curiosity, as well, as Elliott tries to repair his fractured reputation in the English game after a dire loan spell at Aston Villa.

Coventry could be about to land their next James Maddison by going all in for the 23-year-old, with the Sky Blues never able to get the very best out of their homegrown sensation, as he flew the nest long before the Sky Blues worked their way up the leagues to seal a Premier League promotion.

Hopefully, with Elliott possibly arriving through the door, they can regain a Maddison-like presence in the midfield ranks, as they look to survive, with Ipswich needing to ensure they're in the race, too, as he would boost their options.

Why Elliott can be Coventry's next Maddison

Maddison would only go on to play 45 games for his boyhood club before embarking on an adventure that has now seen him become a Premier League regular with Tottenham Hotspur.

Powering home 56 goals in the top-flight from 226 games at the level, he has come on leaps and bounds from his early footballing education in League One with Coventry.

Elliott doesn't quite have the same hefty numbers, but from 99 games at the daunting level, he does have five goals and 13 assists, having had to become used to the rough and tumble of the EFL as a youngster, too, when loaned out from Liverpool.

Now, the energetic 23-year-old has two Premier League titles under his belt on Merseyside, making him an ideal player for both Coventry and Ipswich to pick up, as they go about adding in players who have experience on how to swim, instead of sink, when pushed into the deep end of the top-flight.

The other major plus for both Kieran McKenna's side, and Lampard's champions, will be that Elliott can line up all across the midfield if needed.

The 28-time England U21 international's most fruitful season in the Premier League - which saw him pick up nine assists during Jurgen Klopp's farewell campaign - saw him line up as a traditional central midfielder, a number ten, and as a right winger.

Maddison is well known, too, for shifting between his central midfield duties and his more creative callings when playing as a number ten, with his ability to be so versatile allowing him to become a top-flight regular.

Harvey Elliott celebrates for Liverpool

Coventry would love to snap up Elliott and turn him into a Premier League staple at the CBS Arena, having never had the chance to do that with one of their own.

Ipswich should join the race for the 23-year-old's services, as well, as he would fit in seamlessly to an already attack-oriented midfield that boasts Jack Clarke and Jaden Philogene.

This should be a fascinating tussle to keep an eye on when the window does open, as several Premier League clubs will be ready to take a risk on a star who has shown so much top-flight promise.
