A recent UFC Hall of Fame inductee thinks Conor McGregor will have at least one more fight after suffering another setback.

McGregor suffered ACL and meniscus injuries in his highly anticipated return at UFC 329. His rematch with Max Holloway only went nine seconds past the one-minute mark. It was the “Notorious” one’s right knee that gave out after landing awkwardly off a jumping kick attempt. McGregor also claimed that the dry ice from the fog machine during his walkout made the canvas slippery.

While some have been skeptical over whether or not McGregor will be making his return, the former two-division champion insists his “last dance” will be taking place in 2027. Speaking to MMAJunkie.com, ex-UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman believes McGregor doesn’t want to end his career on the disappointing injury.

“It was such a letdown, the air just got stolen out of that building,” Weidman recalled. “We did the desk show and I couldn’t even talk anymore. … He’s not going out like that. He’s fighting again, for sure. Will we be as excited it believing that Conor can still do these amazing, vintage things he’s done in the past? I don’t think we’re going to be sold like we were this time, but I think a lo of people are going to be excited and I think he’s coming back.”

McGregor has said he wants a trilogy bout with Holloway once he fully recovers from his knee injury. The Irish megastar thinks he can make it back inside the Octagon in the summer of next year. Holloway figures to have at least one more fight before McGregor is able to return. Whether or not the UFC brass will see value in McGregor vs. Holloway 3 by that time remains to be seen.
