Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayClaressa Shields’ team continues to pursue Lauren Price while keeping Tamm Thibeault among its alternatives. The preference makes sense. Price delivers British viewers and the potential for a profitable UK event without the physical risk Thibeault poses at middleweight.
“We’re working on it as we speak,” promoter Dmitriy Salita told Sky Sports. “Our intention is to make the fight. Based on my understanding, we have agreed to all the requests from BOXXER and Lauren’s side.”
Salita provided no details about the weight, purse, location, or proposed date. Those terms will determine how seriously the matchup should be treated.
Price is a unified welterweight champion who normally competes at 147 pounds. Shields just regained the WBC and WBA middleweight titles with a sixth-round stoppage of Kaye Scott. Asking Price to climb directly to 160 gives Shields a major advantage in size and strength.
The commercial argument is far easier to sell. Price has a following in Britain and brings her own Olympic gold medal into the promotion. A meeting between two Olympic champions may draw a strong UK television audience, support a pay-per-view broadcast, or fill a smaller British arena.
Thibeault generates less revenue while presenting serious trouble inside the ring. The Canadian owns the WBO and IBF middleweight titles, punches with power in either hand, and has the technical and amateur experience to test Shields. She is also younger and naturally suited to the division.
Most importantly, Thibeault owns the two belts Shields needs to become undisputed middleweight champion. If legacy were the only consideration, she would be the logical opponent.
Price delivers a stronger market with a smaller opponent. Thibeault provides the undisputed championship and a genuine threat of defeat. Salita can call either matchup historic, but the financial calculation favors Price because she offers more money with less danger.
