Chelsea have now made contact to sign AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Sports Boom, Chelsea have been making firm enquiries to sign Scott, whose price tag is expected to sit at around £50m.

Manchester United are leading the race for the boyhood Tottenham fan, who has also been linked with a move to Spurs, but the west Londoners have been in contact on multiple occasions, while Bournemouth are desperate to keep hold of him beyond the summer.

That is despite his allegiance to their London rivals, with podcast host Seb Martin suggesting the Lilywhites should make a move for the midfielder, who has now made 79 appearances in the Premier League.

Martin described the maestro as an "incredible talent that is Tottenham through and through", who he'd sign "under any circumstances".

It would presumably be very difficult for Spurs to compete for Scott's signature if they are relegated though, and their fate could be in the Blues' hands, with a trip to Stamford Bridge up next.

Having drawn 1-1 at home against Leeds United last time out, Roberto De Zerbi's side moved two points clear of the bottom three, but they are far from safe, with 18th-place West Ham United still to play struggling Newcastle United, before taking on Leeds at home on the final day.

Of course, playing a major role in Tottenham's relegation would bring a great deal of satisfaction to sections of the Chelsea support, and there is still an opportunity to end the season by winning a major trophy, having reached the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 16th.

However, the campaign as a whole has been far from ideal for the Blues, who are at major risk of not qualifying for European football of any description next season, and they have now set out to strengthen their squad in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano drops update on Enzo Fernandez's future

Bringing in a new central midfielder may be of great importance in the upcoming window, with Enzo Fernandez's future still up in the air, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano.

“Enzo Fernandez and Chelsea have been talking since December, but the problem is no agreement. The real issue is no agreement over better wages. A few factors could influence him. Let’s see who will be the next Chelsea manager and Champions League football.

“Enzo Fernandez has been discussed internally at Manchester City, but they have different other top targets like Anderson, and Tonali is appreciated. They made checks on Enzo before. No negotiations; if they miss out on other targets, they might look at him as an opportunity.”

The Argentinian is already one of the highest earners at Stamford Bridge, but he rakes in less than Reece James and another defender.
