Chelsea have already made one of the biggest statements of the summer by agreeing a £117 million deal for Morgan Rogers, but their ambition may not stop there as they also target AC Milan's Rafael Leao.

The England international arrives after establishing himself as one of the Premier League's most complete attacking players.

Rogers developed rapidly under Unai Emery at Aston Villa, combining power, creativity and versatility to become a regular for both club and country. Last season, he finished with 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, proving he can influence games from the left wing, as a number 10 or even through the middle.

That flexibility is exactly why Chelsea were prepared to spend a club-record fee.

New manager Xabi Alonso wants intelligent attackers who can rotate positions, press aggressively and carry the ball through defensive lines. Rogers ticks every box.

Adding Leao would give Alonso something different rather than creating a selection headache. The AC Milan forward is one of Europe's most explosive dribblers, thriving when given space to attack defenders one against one.

While Rogers prefers to drift inside and link play, Leao is happiest stretching defences from the left before driving directly towards goal.

The two players could actually complement each other. Rogers has the awareness to move into central areas and create overloads, leaving Leao free to isolate full-backs.

With Cole Palmer operating between the lines and Moises Caicedo providing balance behind them, Chelsea would suddenly possess one of the most dangerous attacking units in Europe.

Signing Rogers already feels like a huge statement after beating Arsenal to his signature, and landing Leao as well would send an even louder message that Chelsea are building a squad capable of competing for the biggest trophies again.

According to Italian transfer journalist Gianluigi Longari, Chelsea have made exploratory enquiries over Leao despite already securing Rogers.

Longari reports that the Portugal international will travel with AC Milan on their pre-season tour of Australia before holding discussions with new head coach Ruben Amorim and club owner Gerry Cardinale about his future.

His report also claims Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have expressed interest, with the right financial package potentially tempting Leao to consider an unexpected move.

Chelsea's position is described very differently.

Longari says the Blues' interest remains exploratory and has not progressed into a formal offer at this stage.

Leao has been linked with several Premier League clubs over the past few years because of his pace, physicality and ability to change matches on his own.

Chelsea have admired him before, so renewed interest is hardly surprising.

The biggest obstacle is likely to be financial rather than tactical. Chelsea have already committed enormous money to Rogers and would almost certainly need another significant investment to convince Milan to sell one of their biggest stars.

Leao's contract, which includes a £149m release clause, also has another two years left to run, with Villa also mentioned as rival suitors by other media reports.

Even so, if there is one manager capable of making two dynamic attackers thrive together, it could be Alonso.
