According to the former NBA star, the program is designed to keep fans engaged and having fun during long broadcasts rather than overwhelming audiences with constant tactical breakdowns.
“We want people to have fun. We’re trying to entertain people,” Barkley said.
The Hall of Famer also questioned whether viewers really want hours of detailed X-and-O discussions late into the night.
“How many people actually know enough about basketball for us to X-and-O them from 7 to 2 in the morning?” Barkley said.
He added that the show’s cast focuses more on personality and entertainment than nonstop technical analysis.
“Do people really want to see us four dummies sit there and talk about P&Rs, blitzes, over/under, and things like that?” Barkley asked.
“I want people to have fun watching basketball. Period.”
