The Boston Celtics have agreed to a four-year, $56 million contract extension with center Neemias Queta, according to ESPN.

Queta emerged as an important part of Boston’s frontcourt after working his way up from a two-way contract. Last season, he averaged 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks while serving as the team’s starting center.

Boston had already exercised Queta’s team option for next season, and the new agreement adds four fully guaranteed years, keeping him under contract through the 2030-31 season.

The 7-footer was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft and spent the early years of his career proving himself through three two-way contracts and three short-term multiyear deals before earning the lucrative long-term extension.
