The Celtics could be forced to reduce their asking price for Jaylen Brown as trade discussions have generated less interest than the organization had anticipated.

Boston has reportedly been seeking packages that include as many as four first-round picks along with players, but several teams previously linked to Brown have either cooled their interest or are no longer actively engaged.

The Trail Blazers remain connected to the player, though their interest is believed to be limited, and their recent trade for Ja Morant, which sent out Jerami Grant, has made matching salaries more difficult.

The Nuggets have also explored the possibility of acquiring Brown but reportedly have not spoken with Boston since the weekend and lack the draft assets needed to meet the Celtics’ demands.

The Nets, another team previously mentioned as a potential suitor, are also not currently involved in negotiations.

If Boston is unable to find a trade that meets its expectations, the franchise may ultimately keep Brown.

In that scenario, both sides could need to repair their relationship after an offseason filled with trade speculation, although Brown’s eligibility for a two-year, $141.8 million extension in July could provide a path toward moving forward together.
