It's sparked frustration from the fanbase, who chanted against the board in the club's 4-1 friendly defeat against Sporting Club, but there is finally some good news on the way.

As Daizen Maeda heads for the exit door, Celtic have instantly turned their attention towards Bodo/Glimt star Kasper Hogh, who starred in the Champions League last season.

The forward even netted a brace against Manchester City in a shock victory for Bodo/Glimt and that only continued his clinical form - scoring five goals from an XG of 5.4.

Losing Maeda will be a blow, but signing Hogh as an instant replacement would arguably hand Martin O'Neill a major upgrade. This is a player who has proved his worth at the top level in the last season, scoring 15 goals and assisting another 11 in all competitions.

For all the frustration over Celtic's transfer business this summer, the arrival of the Dane would certainly be worth the wait. Whether Parkhead chiefs can afford the deal is another question entirely, however.

According to Campo in Denmark, as relayed by Sport Witness, Celtic are closing in on signing Hogh and are attempting to finalise a deal for the Bodo/Glimt forward.

Earlier rumours claimed that the Bhoys are expected to sign the forward, but it may not be as simple as that. Hogh is expected to cost a hefty fee and reports in Denmark revealed that Bodo/Glimt are one of the richest clubs in Norway, with a warning fired to the Hoops over the finances needed to finalise their move.

It's no secret that Celtic are not in a strong position financially compared to other clubs in the market. It's seen Parkhead chiefs hesitate far too often and there will be a fear that things won't change in pursuit of Hogh, even as the Hoops look to finalise their move.

Attacking stars are very much the focus at Celtic right now. Alongside Hogh, the Hoops are reportedly pushing hard to sign Haissem Hassan, who enjoyed a break-out tournament with Egypt at the World Cup.

Following relegation with Real Oviedo in Spain, the winger looks to be on the move and potentially on his way to Scotland. It's there that he may play a transformative role in O'Neill's frontline.

Celtic were slow out the blocks this summer, but rumours would suggest that they're finally ready to kickstart their business with some impressive names.
