The Cleveland Cavaliers have recently been mentioned as a possible destination for Giannis Antetokounmpo following their four-game defeat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

However, according to Jake Fischer, league sources do not expect Cleveland to be a serious contender in any potential pursuit of the Milwaukee Bucks superstar.

While the Cavaliers possess attractive trade assets, including All-Star forward Evan Mobley, there are significant obstacles to any deal.

Around the league, there is doubt that Antetokounmpo would be willing to commit his long-term future to Cleveland, while the Cavaliers themselves continue to view Mobley as a cornerstone of the franchise moving forward.

At just 24 years old, Mobley remains one of the organization’s most valuable pieces and is widely seen as a key figure in sustaining success beyond the prime years of Donovan Mitchell.

Cavaliers president Koby Altman reinforced that belief during his press conference on Friday, describing Mobley as “part of our future.”

Cleveland did explore Antetokounmpo’s availability before the trade deadline, but current indications suggest a blockbuster move remains unlikely.

With Kenny Atkinson set to remain as head coach, attention now turns to potential roster adjustments this summer as the Cavaliers look for ways to take the next step and reach the NBA Finals without LeBron James for the first time in franchise history.
