The Milwaukee Bucks have no plans to sign Tyler Herro to a contract extension before the 2026-27 season, according to Evan Sidery. Herro is entering the final season of his current deal at $33 million and could become a trade candidate before the February deadline.

“The Bucks have no plans of signing Tyler Herro to an extension before the season begins,” Sidery reported Friday. “Herro, currently extension-eligible on a $33 million expiring contract, could instead become a midseason trade chip for Milwaukee. Brayden Burries looms as a future replacement for Herro.”

Herro arrived in Milwaukee as the centerpiece of the return for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was traded to the Miami Heat alongside Bobby Portis in June. The Bucks also received Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, a 2030 pick swap and a 2033 second-round selection in the franchise-altering deal.

The move ended the Giannis era and shifted Milwaukee toward a younger roster and a longer-term asset strategy. The Bucks finished 32-50 in 2025-26, 11th in the Eastern Conference, before moving Antetokounmpo and beginning a significant roster reconstruction.

Herro gives Milwaukee an established scoring option entering his seventh season. He averaged 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 33 games for Miami last season, shooting 48.0% from the field, 37.8% from three-point range and 91.7% from the free-throw line.

His 2024-25 campaign was his most productive full season, with Herro averaging a career-high 23.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds in 77 games. He also shot 47.2% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range while earning his first All-Star selection.
