Entering Monday, the Chicago Cubs had won 15 straight games at Wrigley Field. An offensive outburst from the Milwaukee Brewers stopped the streak right there with a 9-3 win.

The Brewers offense exploded on Monday

Chicago had its ace, Shota Imanaga, toeing the rubber on Monday with a chance to extend the home winning streak to 16 games. However, Imanaga's fate was much like the one he suffered against Milwaukee in the 2025 MLB postseason.

The Brewers tagged Imanaga for nine hits and tallied eight runs in just 4 1/3 innings. The highlight of the game for the Brewers was a three-run home run from Jake Bauers in the fifth inning.

Imanaga's season ERA rose a full run from 2.32 to 3.38 after the horrendous outing on Monday.

Milwaukee continues to play excellent baseball

After beginning the season 13-13 through 26 games, the Brewers have been playing as good as any team over the past 3 weeks. With the win on Monday, Milwaukee improved to 14-5 over its last 19 games.

The Brewers have the third-best run differential in the National League, despite being near the bottom of MLB in home runs. Their success this season is proof of the excellent managerial job that Pat Murphy has done for a third consecutive season.

Another win on Tuesday for Milwaukee would put it in first place in the NL Central for the first time this season.
