Undefeated UFC Bantamweight Contender Becomes Free Agent.

Undefeated 135-pounder (16-0) Farid Basharat has been removed from the UFC roster, as reported by MMA Fighting earlier today.

In the last bout of his contract, the 29-year-old secured a unanimous decision win over short-notice opponent John Garza at UFC 329. Despite expressing interest in continuing to fight for the promotion, he was not offered a new deal.

Basharat earned his UFC contract on Season 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series and went on to win all 7 of his fights in the promotion. However, he secured only one finish during that run, which may be a reason why the company chose not to re-sign him.

Farid Basharat was confident he would become champion, demanded high-ranked opponent after UFC 329 win

After beating the afoermetioned John Garza at UFC 329, Farid Basharat told Joe Rogan and the crowd that he deserves a fresh contract and revealed how, before the Garza bout, he tore his MCL and meniscus and yet did not choose to pull out. Basharat added he needs the chance to keep competing and is confident that he will be champion soon.

“Joe, you’ve been in the UFC the year I was born, 1997. It was my last fight on my contract. I love this organization. I’m 16 and 0 now. I have the longest win streak in the weight division. I think I deserve a new contract first and foremost, don’t you think so?”

“Look, weight misses, injuries. I tore my MCL and my meniscus 3 weeks before this fight… All fight week, I was limping to my interviews. But I don’t care. I want to be the best in the world. This the UFC is my dream since I was 10 years old. And as long as I stay in this organization, I know 100% I’m going to be champion… I think I’m the most underrated fighter in this roster. I think I’m the most well-rounded guy in this roster, and I know I’m going to be the champion of this weight division. I just need opportunity to fight up. I need to be fighting up.”
