Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayBrandon Ingram will not be available for the start of the 2026-27 season as he recovers from surgery addressing a right heel injury and partially torn Achilles tendon. Interim president of basketball operations Trent Redden confirmed the timeline Monday at Clippers media day.
Doctors discovered the previously undisclosed Achilles injury during Ingram's heel surgery in May. Redden said there is no timetable for his return, though a partially torn Achilles typically requires roughly six months less recovery time than a full tear. Ingram missed the final two games of the Toronto Raptors' first-round playoff loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers with the heel injury before undergoing surgery.
"It wasn't until we got our hands on [Ingram] here that we started to see where he was at with his progression," said Redden. "He won't be ready for the start of the season, and we'll reevaluate when we get there."
The Clippers acquired Ingram and guard Gradey Dick from the Raptors earlier this month in a trade that sent Kawhi Leonard to Toronto.
Redden also said Bradley Beal is dealing with right knee inflammation following left hip surgery and will miss the start of training camp.
Ingram, a two-time All-Star, averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists for Toronto last season. He projects as the Clippers' leading scoring option once healthy.
Darius Garland expressed excitement about pairing with Ingram in pick-and-roll situations.
"Whenever [Ingram] comes back, when he gets out there, I think our pick-and-roll will be the No. 1 thing we go to," said Garland. "I think that can be really nasty. He's super crafty. I'm super excited to play with him for sure."
Ingram is owed $40 million this season and holds a $41.9 million player option for 2027-28.
