Liverpool have received a major boost in their battle to sign an attacking star, who has just told his current club that he's ready to leave this summer.

With Andoni Iraola through the door, the Reds have spent recent weeks in the market for an exciting winger who could reignite their attacking spark. It's seen Yan Diomande emerge as their top target, only for Paris Saint-Germain's interest to complicate things and RB Leipzig to demand over £100m.

Anfield chiefs will need to be sure about the teenager before they spend such a hefty price. It's only been one year since they spent around £450m on Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ektike, before watching on as Isak and Wirtz particularly struggled to adapt to life in Merseyside.

On talent alone, however, it's easy to see why Diomande has entered Liverpool's radar. Barring Rio Ngumoha's features, the Leipzig star is everything that the Reds' frontline were not last season. He is one of the quickest players in the Bundesliga and one of the most direct. On paper, a wing pairing of Diomande and Ngumoha would simply be electrifying for years to come.

Alas, it's not just the Ivory Coast star who's on Liverpool's radar and they've just been gifted a major boost in the race to sign an impressive alternative.

Liverpool commence direct agent talks to sign star

As reported by TeamTalk, Bradley Barcola has told PSG that he's now ready to leave the club and Liverpool have been in direct talks with his agent in recent weeks.

The Frenchman is concerned that he's fallen down the pecking order in Paris following the form of Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, leaving those at Anfield to take full advantage.

PSG's preference remains that Barcola puts pen to paper on a new deal, but they've accepted that they're likely to lose their winger following his latest exit stance.

The ball could still be in their court, though. The Frenchman's exit could force PSG to turn towards Diomande which would, in turn, leave Liverpool with little option but to welcome Barcola.

That may be no bad thing, however. The 23-year-old scored 13 goals and assisted another seven in all competitions last season, picking up a Champions League winners' medal along the way. Losing out on Diomande and signing Barcola could be a blessing in disguise for Liverpool.
