Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe Hall of Fame promoter says negotiations are underway for the WBO-ordered welterweight title fight and expects a major attraction for boxing fans
Bob Arum believes Devin Haney holds the edge over Keyshawn Davis if their WBO-ordered welterweight title fight is finalized. The Hall of Fame promoter also confirmed discussions have already begun for what he believes could become one of boxing’s biggest matchups.
“That’s a spectacular fight, a real fan-friendly fight,” Arum told FightHype.com. “I hope we can make that fight. I know our people have talked to Haney, and we’ll be talking to Keyshawn.
“That would be a super, super fight for fight fans. You have to give the edge to Haney because of his experience, but I wouldn’t count Keyshawn out against anyone.”
Davis (15-0, 10 KOs, 1 NC) moved up from light welterweight after turning down the chance to fight Lindolfo Delgado for the vacant IBF 140-pound title. The 2020 Olympic silver medalist instead chose to pursue bigger opportunities at 147 pounds following his unanimous decision victory over Nahir Albright in May.
Haney (33-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC) would earn one of the biggest paydays available by facing Keyshawn, but he has also made it clear that a fight with Shakur Stevenson remains high on his list of priorities. The two fighters publicly agreed to a 144-pound catchweight on social media several weeks ago, although negotiations have not progressed since then.
Haney’s attention could turn to Keyshawn, with Arum expecting a matchup that he believes would deliver for fans while giving the more experienced champion the early edge.
