The Spaniard has seen his senior side net seven goals in their first two outings, subsequently putting Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion to the sword to date.

With the transfer deadline looming, Chelsea have made an approach to Roma for the signature of midfielder Manu Kone - who was previously linked with a move to join Manchester United.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that a deal has been agreed between the French club and Alonso’s men for the signature of the Senegalese international.

He also stated that a deal in the region of €45m (£39m) has been reached for the 22-year-old, who featured for his nation at the recent World Cup in America.

Only a few issues remain before a deal can be reached for the midfielder’s signature, which could see the Blues land the player who could solve the manager’s recent issues.

He and Kone appear to be the two main targets in the sights of the hierarchy, but it’s the Monaco star who the club should be making a move for in the days ahead.

When comparing their respective stats from last season, Camara managed to dominate the Frenchman in various key areas - highlighting why he’d be a better addition at present.

The youngster managed to create an impressive tally of 1.7 chances per 90 last season, whilst achieving a 54% dribble success rate in France’s top-division.

Such numbers saw him better fellow transfer target Kone, whilst also placing him above 90% of other midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues.

Camara also managed to complete more of the crosses he attempted in 2025/26, which reaffirms his excellent ability with the ball at his feet - something the Roma star was unable to emulate.

However, without the ball, the Senegalese star also managed to dominate, subsequently winning more of his ground duels, whilst making more interceptions per 90.

Like his talent with the ball, his subsequent figures ranked him above 92% of other players in his position in Ligue 1 - showcasing his incredible box-to-box nature.

Such numbers certainly make for excellent reading and back up manager Filipe Luis’ claims that Camara is already “one of the best midfielders in the world.”

Signing such a talent for just £39m would be a phenomenal deal for the Blues and one which could hand Alonso an immediate and long-term solution to their current issues.

Kone would also be a solid addition before the window closes, but if the club are serious about challenging for the Premier League title - a deal for the Monaco man must be a priority.
