With the Aug 3. trade deadline days away, the Toronto Blue Jays have decisions to make with both Daulton Varsho and George Springer. 

Both have heated up at the plate, enhancing their trade value, but whether or not they will remain with the Blue Jays remains to be seen. The Blue Jays remain in last place in the AL East standings but sit only five games back of the final wild-card spot, leaving a slim 7.2% chance of them making the postseason. 

In addition to Kevin Gausman, both Varsho and Springer have come up as top trade candidates ahead of the deadline. Both Varsho and Springer have been the heart and soul of the Blue Jays following the team's dominant run to the World Series in 2025. 

They are both in the final year of their respective contracts heading toward free agency after this season. Considering the Blue Jays are in prime position to be sellers, putting both Varsho and Springer on the radar. 

The dilemma with Daulton Varsho and George Springer

Both have had fluctuating performances at the plate, and their future outlooks with the team have become a heavy topic of discussion over the past few weeks. Varsho hasn't homered since June 23, but in his last seven games, he has heated up batting .375 with nine hits, one RBI and a walk. 

But Varsho has continued to provide elite defense with a spectacular catch against the wall in Wednesday's 5-2 victory against the Washington Nationals. He also owns a five Outs Above Average (OAA) that sits in the 91st percentile this season, but he has struggled with a .226 batting average with runners-in-scoring position. 

Springer has also struggled to provide consistent offense, but he has shown flashes of dominance and has been clutch with a .333 batting average with two home runs and eight RBI in his last seven games. 

Springer is also second on the team in home runs with 12, behind Okamoto's team-leading 24. Springer also provides a veteran presence, and MLB insider Jon Heyman believes that Springer is a player who the New York Yankees would love to have since he's a right-handed outfielder with power.
