Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayErnie Clement decided to add a little excitement to his life as the Blue Jays fight for a wild-card spot.
The veteran infielder proposed to his longtime partner, Stefanie Brejcha, this week while on the road for a three-game series against the Guardians.
Brejcha had her hand over her mouth in shock outside of the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade in Ohio as seen in photos shared on Tuesday.
“Surprise!!💍” she wrote as the caption. “The best guy, the best friends, and the best family. Feeling all the love this weekend in the most special spot in the world. Now let’s do this thing!!!”
A photo was snapped of Clement and Brejcha holding onto each other during the celebratory moment outside of the hotel. Another was captured of the couple inside among bright string lights as Brejcha showed off her emerald cut diamond engagement ring on a gold band.
She then went on to share various photos with friends and family around a sign that said “Stef and Ernie’s engagement.”
Brejcha also was gifted glasses with “fiancé” and “fiancée” written on them as “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” were crossed out.
Tuesday was the first game for the Blue Jays in Cleveland. Toronto lost 6-1, but Brejcha had a win for herself.
“Her first baseball game,” Brejcha wrote on her Instagram story referring to her new ring as she sat in the stands. “(Yes I’m gonna be annoying about this)”
The couple publicly confirmed their relationship in January 2024. However, the two are believed to have met while Clement was an infielder with the Guardians in 2022.
Brejcha attended Kent State University, which is about an hour south of Cleveland in Portage County, Ohio. She is a native of Mentor, Ohio.
The couple was recently in the spotlight at All-Star Weekend in Philadelphia in July, which was a first for Clement, who signed with the Blue Jays on a minor league deal in 2023.
Brejcha stunned in a sparkly black dress while Clement wore a black suit on the red carpet.
“It was an absolute honor to be apart of this special day and an experience we will remember forever,” Brejcha wrote on Instagram. “So incredibly proud of this guy and all the hard work he has put in to get us here❤️”
She was there to support Clement when the Blue Jays made a run to the World Series last year, falling to the Dodgers in a heartbreaking seven-game defeat.
During that postseason run, Clement accomplished a single postseason record of 30 hits.
The Blue Jays (68-71) currently trail the Guardians for the third and final AL wild-card spot by 2.5 games. The Rangers and Orioles are also in the mix.
