Ever since the Toronto Blue Jays called up outfielder Jonatan Clase, the vibrancy of the clubhouse has changed, overturning what was looking like rock bottom for the Blue Jays offense. 

Clase was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on July 1st to provide supplemental depth while George Springer was on the paternity leave list. The 24-year-old switch-hitter has been an instant sparkplug as he has now hit two home runs across five games. 

His second go-ahead home run of the season provided the Blue Jays with a 4-2 lead in the top of the second inning on Saturday against San Diego Padres starting pitcher Walker Buehler. Clase put up solid at-bats all night against the Padres, continuing to provide rallies, including an 8-pitch walk in the top of the sixth inning, where he eventually scored with a three-run home run from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to tie the game (7-7).

Despite the Blue Jays losing 8-7, Clase provides them with a solid foundation for future games, including providing them with the chance to win the series against the Padres. His first home run was a three-run bomb hit on July 7 in the second inning, and helped to provide them with a 9-3 victory against the San Francisco Giants. 

Clase got the opportunity to hoist the home run dragon again, which has brought the Blue Jays with a goodluck charm. But in addition to his power potential, Clase is also a solid defender, demonstrating why he deserves to remain in the big leagues.

Having Clase bat ninth in the batting order works tremendously well with Ernie Clement leading off. Evidently, it manifests a secondary leadoff spot at the bottom of the lineup. 

This tactic meshes well as Clement's high-contact bat allows him to get on base consistently, while Clase's speed turns the lineup over, which sets the tone for more run-scoring opportunities. 

Both Clement and Clase provide versatility for the Blue Jays, which makes having them both in the lineup a recipe for success.
