If there's one thing you can guarantee during a transfer window, it is that Chelsea will be busy.

Just last week, the Blues confirmed the signing of both João Pedro, arriving from Brighton for a reported fee of £50m, and Jamie Gittens, who has joined from Borussia Dortmund for around £48.5m.

On the pitch, Enzo Maresca's team have now reached the Club World Cup semi-finals, preparing to face Fluminense in East Rutherford on Tuesday, widely expected to progress, thereby taking on either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid in Sunday's final at MetLife Stadium.

Despite all of that, including recruiting five attackers, Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian notes Chelsea's continued interest in Mohammed Kudus.

He states that Tottenham Hotspur have had a £50m offer rejected by West Ham United, with the Irons 'expecting a bigger bid from Chelsea'.

Elsewhere, James Olley of ESPN notes that the Ghanaian's contract contains an £85m release clause, although the Hammers 'are open to letting him go at a lower fee'.

So, could he be set to swap East London for West?

How Mohammed Kudus would improve Chelsea

Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax for a reported fee of £37m two summers ago, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists in 80 appearances for the club.

These numbers may not leap off the page, but journalist Ibrahim Sannie Daara believes he has been a "superstar", while data analyst Ben Mattinson labels him an 'explosive and skilful player' who has the potential to become a 'world-class winger'.

During both of his campaigns in the Premier League, Kudus has led the division in terms of attempted take-ons, according to FBref.com, with this stunning solo goal against Freiburg in the Europa League the best illustration of his talent.

So, is the Ghanaian a bigger talent than the very recently arrived Gittens? Well, let's compare the duo to answer this question.

If we start in 2023/24, then Kudus certainly came out on top, scoring a whopping 18 goals and supplying ten assists in all competitions to Gittens' two goals and eight assists.

While many of Gittens' statistics are more impressive than Kudus', context is certainly important.

The Englishman was playing for a team who finished fourth in the Bundesliga and reached the Champions League quarter-finals, winning 29 matches across all competitions, while West Ham enjoying a miserly 12 victories, finishing 14th and scoring just 46 league goals.

Mohammed Kudus celebrates for West Ham

Given all that, Kudus' numbers are actually phenomenal, as he was plying his trade in a generally terrible team, hence why James Jones of BBC Sport describes his form in claret and blue as 'superb' and 'electric'. It's important to state he was also already doing it in the Premier League, meaning the adaptation period would surely be smaller than Gittens'.

Thus, at 24 years old, the Ghanaian is surely ready to take the next step in his career, so could he be the attacking difference maker Chelsea are seemingly endlessly searching for?
