Barry Hearn dismissed Simon Jordan’s suggestion that something was “not quite right” about Anthony Joshua’s comeback victory over Kristian Prenga, insisting there was nothing suspicious about the dramatic turnaround after Joshua survived two first-round knockdowns.

Jordan questioned the sequence on social media following Joshua’s stoppage victory over Prenga, writing that it looked “all designed to rinse maximum amount of money.” Hearn ridiculed the suggestion during an appearance on TalkSport, saying the explanation was far simpler.

“I mean, to say there’s something not right there, I mean, come on. Get yourself a decent toy in your pram, boy. You get whacked by someone. What are you saying, it’s fixed or something? Come on,” Hearn said to talkSPORT Boxing before responding directly to Jordan’s post. “Well, listen, if you’ve got to make yourself famous, say something stupid. Well done, Simon. Mission accomplished.”

Joshua’s recovery reinforced Hearn’s belief that the former heavyweight champion still possesses the resolve to overcome adversity. He acknowledged Joshua made costly defensive mistakes in the opening round, noting he dropped his left hand against a dangerous puncher.

“But he showed that character that goes with AJ. It’s worrying that he went down, but it’s great that he got up. I think that sums up his life at the moment because he’s had more ups and downs than most of us have to go through,” Hearn said. “We thought the fight we’d waited 10 years for was going out the window, and it ended with a brutal combination.”

Hearn also reaffirmed that Joshua’s proposed fight with Tyson Fury remains contractually tied to the United Kingdom. He said both sides have already informed Saudi officials that the agreement specifies the bout must take place there.
