Barcelona has secured the future of Joel Parra after agreeing to a contract extension that will keep the Spanish forward with the club until June 30, 2030, the team announced Friday.

Parra originally joined Barcelona three seasons ago on a deal running through 2027 before extending his stay until 2028 last summer. The latest agreement adds two more seasons and strengthens his role as one of the key pieces of the club’s long-term project.

The 26-year-old forward has become an important part of Barcelona’s rotation because of his versatility, defensive intensity and ability to contribute in multiple areas. The club highlighted his ability to play in the low post, attack from the perimeter, provide outside shooting and impact the rebounding battle on both ends of the floor.

During the 2025-26 season, Parra posted his best numbers since joining Barcelona. In Liga Endesa play, he averaged 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 11.1 PIR, while setting career highs of 24 points and 34 PIR against MoraBanc Andorra.

Parra also improved his production in the EuroLeague, averaging 5.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.8 PIR over 38 games. Those numbers represented progress from his first two seasons in Europe’s top competition after he averaged 3.0 points in 2023-24 and 4.8 points in 2024-25.

Since arriving from Joventut Badalona, Parra has appeared in 223 games for Barcelona across all competitions, including 112 Liga Endesa games, 97 EuroLeague contests, six Copa del Rey games, one Spanish Super Cup appearance and seven Catalan League games.

Before joining Barcelona, Parra developed into one of Joventut’s leading young players. In the 2022-23 season, he averaged 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds in Liga Endesa play and recorded 12.9 points per game in the EuroCup, shooting 50 percent from three-point range in 18 appearances.

The extension comes during a period of transition for Barcelona. The club finished the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season with a 21-17 record, placing ninth in the standings before advancing to the Play-In Tournament, and later moved into a new phase after parting ways with head coach Xavi Pascual.

Barcelona has also seen several veteran departures, including Jan Vesely, Willy Hernangomez, Tomas Satoransky, Nicolas Laprovittola, Youssoupha Fall, Will Clyburn, Miles Norris and Myles Cale.
