Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe opening T20I between Bangladesh and Australia at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur delivered plenty of action as both teams battled hard in a low-scoring contest. After restricting Bangladesh to a modest total of 131, Australia looked set for a comfortable chase before the hosts struck with a couple of quick wickets to create some early pressure.
Among the standout moments of the game was a superb delivery from one of the Bangladesh pacers that sent the Australian batter Josh Inglis back to the pavilion. The dismissal quickly grabbed attention as the left-arm seamer showcased his skill with a delivery that completely outfoxed the Australian batter.
Shoriful Islam knocks over Josh Inglis with a peach in 1st T20I
The moment arrived during the third over of Australia’s chase. Facing Shoriful Islam, Inglis attempted an innovative stroke to put the pressure back on the bowler but ended up paying the ultimate price. Bowling from around the wicket, Shoriful delivered a back-of-a-length ball around leg stump. The delivery seamed away after pitching and appeared to hold slightly on the surface, making it difficult to judge. Inglis premeditated a reverse ramp, switching his stance early in an attempt to scoop the ball over the infield.
However, the Australian opener was through the shot too soon. The extra movement and uneven bounce completely deceived him as the ball sneaked past his bat and crashed into the top of the middle stump. Inglis was dismissed for just 5 runs off 5 balls, leaving Australia at 15/2 and giving Bangladesh a much-needed breakthrough. The wicket sparked huge celebrations among the Bangladesh players, while the crowd erupted after witnessing a perfect combination of clever bowling and an unsuccessful gamble from the batter.

Australia overcome early scare to take series lead
Earlier in the evening, Bangladesh struggled to build substantial partnerships after being put in to bat. Although the hosts raced to 52/2 during the powerplay, regular wickets prevented them from converting the brisk start into a challenging total. Australia’s bowling attack was led brilliantly by Adam Zampa and Joel Davies. The pair shared six wickets between them, with Zampa returning figures of 3/18 while Davies finished with 3/17. Their disciplined spells ensured Bangladesh were bowled out for 131 in 19 overs despite a promising beginning.
Chasing 132 for victory, Australia lost a couple of early wickets but quickly regained control through Cooper Connolly. The left-hander played an aggressive knock of 47 from just 27 deliveries, striking four fours and three sixes to put the visitors firmly in command of the chase. Australia reached 47/2 at the end of the powerplay and continued to score steadily through the middle overs. Tim David and the lower-middle order chipped in with useful contributions as the required rate never became a major concern.
Although Bangladesh managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals and briefly threatened to make a game of it, Australia held their nerve to reach 133/6 in 18.2 overs. Abdul Gaffar Saqlain was the standout bowler for Bangladesh with two wickets, but Australia successfully chased down the target to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
