Badr Hari, the 41-year-old kickboxer, is now facing a new run-in with Dutch police. According to De Telegraaf, the man was arrested Tuesday morning on Van Leijenberghlaan in Amsterdam following an incident reported around 9 a.m. local time. Police have not officially confirmed the suspect’s identity, but sources close to the paper say it is Hari, and word first spread through RealityFBI IG before De Telegraaf’s own sources and FSI247 backed it up.

A police spokesperson kept things vague Tuesday, saying only that officers arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of threatening behavior and insult. No further details about what triggered the confrontation have been released, and it is not clear yet whether charges will actually be filed or whether this ends the way plenty of his past run-ins have, with a quiet settlement.

Badr Hari Arrested Again As Police Investigate New Threats Complaint

This is far from Badr Hari’s first trip into a police station. Just last September, the fighter received a community service sentence tied to an assault against his ex-partner, Daphne Romani. Prosecutors said that case stemmed from two separate incidents, one in September 2024 and another on February 2, 2025. Hari was arrested after the second incident and spent three days behind bars before a judge released him under strict conditions, including a ban on approaching the street where Romani lives and a requirement to check in regularly with authorities.

Rather than sending the case to trial, the Public Prosecution Service handed Hari what is called a strafbeschikking, essentially a punishment order issued without a judge weighing in. The package included 24 hours of community service, a one-year no-contact order, a one-year restriction on visiting certain locations, and a requirement to pay damages to Romani. Prosecutors said they had enough evidence to move forward and wanted to protect the victim quickly rather than drag things through court.

Photos and video reportedly circulated in February showing Hari completing that community service at Sportclub Only Friends, a club that works with children and young people with disabilities. Nothing official confirmed at the time that the appearance was tied to his sentence, but the timing lined up closely with what the OM had ordered.

Tuesday’s arrest is just the latest chapter in a rap sheet that stretches back to 2006, featuring multiple arrests on various assault charges over the years. The most notorious came out of a 2012 Skyboa brawl at the Amsterdam ArenA during the Sensation dance festival, where Hari assaulted businessman Koen Everink, who was later murdered in an unrelated case. In October 2015, an appeals court sentenced Hari to two years in prison for that attack, with ten months suspended, and ordered him to pay Everink more than 37,000 euros in damages.

The February 2025 arrest drew heavy coverage across Dutch outlets, with crime reporter John van den Heuvel among those documenting the fallout. Romani, the mother of Badr Hari’s five children, alleged repeated abuse rather than a single incident, and a doorbell camera reportedly captured part of the altercation, footage that was later handed to police. One outlet reported that the attack unfolded during a dispute at her front door while the children were being dropped off.

Badr Hari announced in February that his fighting days were over, posting on Instagram that he was “not active anymore” and thanking fans for years of support. That means Tuesday’s arrest lands during retirement rather than mid-career, adding another entry to a legal history that has followed him well past his last fight. Dutch police have given no timeline for when they will confirm the suspect’s identity or announce whether formal charges are coming.
