Austin Reaves re-signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on a four-year, $180 million contract with a player option for Year 4. Reaves originally agreed to a four-year, $185 million deal but decided to sign for a lower number to help the Lakers maintain future flexibility.

The Lakers could have offered Reaves a five-year contract worth up to $241 million, well above the four-year, $179 million maximum any rival team could present.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, the contract begins at the maximum allowable amount in Year 1 at $41.2 million and Year 2 is only a four percent increase. The NBA salary cap is projected to increase by only 5.5 percent during the 2027-28 season.

Reaves, who is represented by Aaron Reilly and Reggie Berry, previously re-signed with the Lakers in the 2023 offseason on a four-year, $54 million contract as a restricted free agent that was his max at the time.

Reaves averaged 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 34.5 minutes across 51 games last season.
