India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the first three T20 Internationals in the ongoing series against Australia due to injury complications, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Wednesday, October 29.

AUS v IND: Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of initial T20Is

Nitish, who was recovering from a left quadriceps injury, faced a setback when he started experiencing neck spasms. This unexpected complication has hampered his recovery and mobility, forcing the BCCI medical team to closely monitor his progress and rule him out of the first three matches of the five-game T20I series.

The quadriceps injury originally occurred during India’s narrow two-wicket loss in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval. Nitish had missed the third ODI in Sydney as he continued his rehabilitation. The neck spasms came as an additional hindrance impacting his return timeline. This ruling out of the initial three T20I adds to the challenges for India’s bowling all-rounder options as the team adjusts its playing XI for these matches.

BCCI’s statement on Nitish Reddy’s injury

The BCCI issued an official statement via its X (formerly Twitter) handle confirming that Nitish Reddy will miss the first three T20Is, with their medical staff actively monitoring his condition. They reiterated their focus on the player’s health and overall fitness, prioritizing his long-term recovery and readiness for future matches.

“Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out for the first three T20Is. The all-rounder who was recovering from his left quadriceps injury sustained during the second ODI in Adelaide, complained of neck spasms, which has impacted his recovery and mobility. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress,” tweeted the BCCI.
