Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez continues to prove how his performance has painted him as the best hitter in MLB

The lethal combination of his raw power and exceptional plate discipline has made him a major threat at the plate.

On the season, Alvarez has compiled an exceptional .312 batting average along with 20 home runs, which ties him for second in MLB with Japanese rookie sensation Munetaka Murakami.

He's recorded 39 RBI and a stellar OPS of 1.085 as well. His elite plate discipline has been characterized by his 14.6 percent walk rate and 16.7 percent strikeout rate.

How Yordan Alvarez has dominated as an offensive threat

He's routinely shown his ability to avoid swinging at pitches outside of the strike zone, adding to his mastery and dominance at the plate.

His 52.5 percent hard-hit rate sits in the 95th percentile, as well as his stellar expected slugging percentage (xSLG) of .728, ranking in the 100th percentile. Both demonstrate his league-leading production, which has excelled at an incredible pace early in the season.

But an element of Alvarez's game that makes him so dominant is his ability to hit against both right- and left-handed pitchers. As a left-handed power hitter, he's broken the status quo by hitting exceptionally well against southpaws. His ability to hit all types of pitches makes it tough for pitchers to do damage against him as well.

Alvarez has also shown how he's able to crush the ball across all areas of the field, which makes it incredibly difficult for the defense to make shifts when facing him.
